Young saplings are available most of the year inoculated with your choice of Black summer truffle (Tuber aestivum) or Porcini (Boletus Edulus). Saplings are Inoculated on Hazel or English oak plants.

Porcini (in Italian) are also known as Cep in France and Penny bun in the UK. This species is known to grow associated with the English oak.

The Black summer truffle (Tuber aestivum) is the easiest and most successful species to grow in our UK climate. It grows equally well on both Hazel and Oak.

The trees are 1-2 years old, are all UK grown and innoculated in our facility. They are supplied bareroot between November until the end of March and rooted in a soil for planting at any time of the year.

For further information on planting and after care please see our 'How to Guides' page.

How long will it be before my first crop of truffles or mushrooms appear?
If you are successful, they will appear after approximatly 4 to 7 years after planting. They have been known to appear in as little as only two years.

Am I guaranteed to get truffles or porcini?
The trees are guaranteed by Funguru Farm as inoculated with the appropriate fungus. They will only produce truffles under ideal conditions: If the tree is healthy, is watered regularly (especially in the first 2 years) and the soil and climate are correct then your chance of success is high.

*All or our sapling trees are inoculated with your chosen fungus. They will only produce fruit under prime conditions. Porcini and truffle mushrooms will only fruit once a symbiotic relationship has developed over time with the host tree and once the fungus has stored enough nutrients and energy to produce fruit. If the tree is healthy, watered often and the soil conditions are correct then it can produce mushrooms or truffles. Remember, Porcini mushrooms have been known to pop up a long distance from the host tree including in neighboring property!
