We work hard in our lab to produce proven fruiting strains of Cordyceps M. The fruit of this facinating fungus will form 30–60 mm high, club-shaped and orange red fruit bodies. The original specimen for this 2021 strain is from a mushroom found in North Wales in late 2020.
- Proven strain that will fruit.
- Grows well on standard MEYA agar.
- Best liquid culture: 4% organic honey / 96% filtered water.
- Best grown on a sterilised supplemented brown rice substrate.
Here is an example broth recipe for 8 tbsp of brown rice (158g):
4g cornflour,
1g nutritional yeast,
1g sugar or dextrose,
1g multivitamins,
1.5g Epsom salts,
4.5g baby formula,
200ml filtered or bottled water.
Recipe suitable for 4 half pint jars or 2 pint jars and can be scaled up. Use 5ml of culture per jar.

Our Liquid mycelium cultures are prepared for you using the best quality ingredients for optimal growth and fast colonisation. Each species receives a unique blend of ingredients to optimise recovery and aid colonisation speed after inoculation. Each syringe is closed with a luer lock cap and supplied with a sterile 18G needle, both are packed into a clean bag for extra security. Each 10ml Liquid Mycelium Syringe can be stored for up to 3 months under refrigeration between 1-5ºC. For best results, use as soon as possible. The benefits of using liquid mycelium culture include faster colonisation, more even and complete colonisation and higher reliability. If you intend to make grain spawn from the liquid culture, you can expect it to be up to 20% more bio-active than traditional agar to grain techniques.
Quality control procedure: Every batch of every strain that is produced is tested. An agar plate is inoculated and observed for contamination before we make a batch available for sale. Our laboratory filtration is rated at HEPA H13 to BS EN 1822:1999. (> 99.95% MPPS, > 99.97% 0.3µm).
For the best chance of achieving contamination free results, carefully observe sterile technique. Open the culture in front of a HEPA flow hood, glove box or similar. Wipe down the petri dish or syringe with 70% Isopropanol and flame sterilise your needles or scalpels. Cover injection sites with micropore tape.
